About Line At A Time

Line At A Time is a small project to help beginners write their very first lines of code, one line at a time, with instant feedback and a plain-English explanation of everything on screen.

It's free and there are no ads. You don't need an account: your progress is saved in your own browser. An optional account keeps your progress and up to two sandbox projects per language, and needs nothing but a username.

When you press Run in the Java or Python sandbox, the code you wrote is sent to our server, run in a throwaway container, and then discarded. Nothing is kept. The JavaScript and TypeScript sandboxes run entirely inside your browser.

The privacy policy lists exactly what the site stores, and the terms are short.
